Sonya Walgar

Sonya was born in London, England in 1974. She studied English literature at Oxford University. Sonya has appeared in several television shows, including Heat of the Sun, The Vice and Goodnight Sweetheart.

She has starring roles in two HBO shows: The Mind of the Married Man and Tell Me You Love Me. Tell Me You Love Me was rocked by mini-scandals, as the show had very graphic sex scenes and there were claims that actual sex took place while on the show.

Sonya also appeared in the TV movie The Librarian: Quest for the Speer and had a recurring role in Sleeper Cell and Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Sonya was cast in the role of Penelope Widmore in Lost and first appeared in Season 2 of the show.

Penelope (Penny) Widmore

Penny is the daughter of wealthy businessman Charles Widmore. Penny first met Desmond Hume at a Scottish monastery. Penny and Desmond dated for two years and Penny moved into Desmond's flat. Desmond met with Widmore and was offered a job, which he declined. He also asked for Widmore's blessing for his marriage to Penny, but Widmore didn't approve. Desmond didn't mention this fact to Penny.

Desmond still intended to marry Penny but soon decided that he was too poor and unworthy of her. They broke up but Penny remained in love with him. While Desmond was in military prison he wrote many letters to Penny which were intercepted and hidden by Widmore. Desmond later discovered that Penny had moved on and became engaged to another man.

Penny later tracked down Desmond in the US and demanded to know why he didn't write to her while in prison. She admitted that she was engaged to someone else. Desmond told her that he would return in a year, after he won her father's boat race and won back his honor.

After Desmond crashed on the island and disappeared, Penny began searching for him. She eventually found out about the island, but the extent of her knowledge is unknown. At the end of Season 3 Penny was notified by two Portuguese-speaking men at a listening station that they had detected an electromagnetic anomaly and had found the island.

When Naomi crashed on the island at the end of Season 3, Desmond found a photo of himself and Penny in a book Naomi was carrying. Naomi claimed that she and her team were hired by Penny to track down the island. When Charlie turned off the jamming signal in the Looking Glass station he received an incoming transmission from Penny. Penny said that the freighter was not sent by her and Charlie tells her that Desmond is alive. Charlie is able to tell Desmond that Penny didn't send the freighter before he does.

After the freighter exploded and the island was moved, Penny's boat found a raft carrying the Oceanic 6, Desmond and Frank Lapidus. Penny later helps the Oceanic 6 make their way to Sumba, where they begin to lie about the Flight 815 crash. Penny remains on the boat with Desmond and Frank.

We later learn that Widmore has hidden Penny in order to protect her from Ben, who wants to kill Penny in retaliation for the death of his own daughter, Alex.
